Sympathy Card

I usually don't make sympathy cards because it saddens me too much to have to make one so I normally just buy them when I need them.  This is the very first one I've ever made for a dear friend whose dad recently passed away.  Hope she likes it.

The card is 5x5 and designed with the Silhouette Studio and all elements (purchased from Silhouette Store) were cut with the Cameo.  The main image is of a (fall) bird on a branch by Lori Whitlock (Design ID #33055).  I chose to turn the main image into a sketch image in green ink, then used the knife function in the Silhouette Studio to cut the bird image from the branch, ran that through the Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots folder and attached it to the card using some foam mounts for some dimension.

This is how the card looks like with just the sketched image
and some ribbon.  I used Choppin Script font for the outside sentiment.

And this is after I attached the bird image.

Close up of the bird with the sticker gem for his eye.

Here's a couple of closeups of the inside of the card.  I used the print and cut feature of the Silhouette to do the inside faux stitching for me.  I used the Abbeyline font for the inside sentiment.  The swirl image on the left side is an image by Rivka Wilkins (Design ID #7983) which I turned into a sketch in brown ink.

The envelope I used was an image by Alaa' Studio (Design ID #42058).  I just added some narrow slits because I wanted to thread a strip of matching ribbon.  I used the same ribbon as the one I used on the card because the back of the ribbon was plain black.

the liner was easy to make using the internal offset then the knife
feature to cut off the parts I didn't need. The coordinating liner nicely
covers the ribbon.

I am linking this card to the Old Backporch 52 card pickup and over at the Eclectic Ellapu (Anything Goes theme).  Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful start of the week.

Ok, whatevs!

First of all, I love my niece! But like some teenagers I know she needs some attitude adjustment once in a while and she knows it   ;)   so I don't feel bad about creating this birthday card for her - she'll shrug off the humor behind it, roll her eyes at me then give me a hug, as she always does anyways.  I know a bit confusing, but then again we're talking about a 15 year old here :).

Hello, fellow bloggers!  Part of this post can be viewed over at the Bugbytes where I hang out the first Sunday of each month.  Thank you, Pam for having me over!  As I mentioned above, this card is a birthday card for my niece. The card was designed using the Silhouette Studio and everything was cut using my Cameo.  The card is roughly 6.25 x 5.25.  The base of the card with the flower cut out is by Jamie Koay, purchased through the Silhouette Store.

After sizing the card base to my liking, I imported a png image (digital stamp) by Scrapper's Delights (she's already colored in, so a big time saver for me!) onto the Silhouette Studio then sized it to fit in the front of the card base.  Png images don't have cut lines so I used the trace feature of the Silhouette Studio to create a cut line around the image so that my Cameo can do the cutting for me.

png images have clear backgrounds, making them
blend with whatever background you choose to put
them on top of

using the trace feaure allows me to create a cut line
around the png image I want to use

here's a screen shot of how I planned this card on the Silhouette Studio,
including the envelope

I don't like to waste paper so here's a pic of the girl image,
the sentiment and the patterned matt after I printed them on my printer.
Notice the cut lines will not show here, but the registration marks on
the three corners of the page will guide the Cameo where to cut.

And here are some closeups of the finished card:

the image is foam mounted

I inserted a vellum panel just behind the front panel of the card.
The top banner pennant was embossed with Plum Blossoms CB folder.
The plumeria (a png image) is part of my digital scrapbook collection
from Scrapgirls.  Like my little humor jab at her?  Like I've said,
she'll shrug it off  LOL!

I did some stitching too.

I am also linking this card up at the Old Backporch 52 Card Pickup challenge week 48

Thank you so much for stopping by and hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

Thinking of you.....again ;)

Well here's another take on the basically the same challenges as those mentioned on my previous post below.  All cuts were designed using my Gypsy and cut using my Cricut.  This card is going to be linked to the following challenges:

**Bitten By The Bug 2 - Tree challenge
**Love to Create - Challenge #32 Thinking of you
**Old Back Porch - 52 Card Pickup challenge week 39

I've almost forgotten how much fun designing on the Gypsy is - once I got over the re-learning curve, that is ;).  Those of you who follow me know that I adore my Silhouette Cameo and designing on the Silhouette Studio, but for on the go, the Gypsy is still way cool!

The card measures 5 x 5.  The bird in the tree branches is from the Cindy Loo cart.  I welded 2 of the scalloped circle shadows to create the base for the card.  I then used the hide contour feature to cut a brown layer then dry embossed that layer with the Plum Blossoms CB folder.  The sentiment "thinking of you" is once again from the Gypsy Wanderings.

Here are some closeups:

And here's the inside of the card.  I know it's looking a little too plain :(.  I think I'll go stamp a swirly image on it before I give it to someone.

Thank you once again for stopping by!

Thinking of you

Hi there!  Hope you all are having a great day.  It's another hot one where I live and it's becoming very unbearable late in the year :(.  I did something I haven't done in MONTHS - I played with my Gypsy!  I must admit I had to fumble a lot to get the hang of it again.  Today's card is going to be linked to the following challenges and all cuts were made using my Cricut:

**Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog - Challenge Me Monday #131 pink
**Bitten By The Bug 2 - tree
**Love to Create - Challenge #35 thinking of you
**The Old Back Porch - 52 Card Pickup week 39

The card is sized to fit an A2 envelope (seen above where the card is standing on).  The base of the card is actually a frame from the Cindy Loo cart with the tree.  I just welded two of the frames to make the base and used hide contour for the pieces I didn't want cut.  The hearts are from Baby Steps and the butterflies are from the CTMH Art Philosophy cart.  The phrase thinking of you is from Gypsy Wanderings.  I used the CB folder Branches and D'vine Swirls.

Some close ups:

I am hoping to get another card posted with the same theme - what can I say it was a loooong wait during my kids' after school activity yesterday so I got reacquainted with my Gypsy ;).  Once again, I do appreciate you stopping by!
