Happy Birthday Little Emma!

My project today is a birthday card I am going to give to my little niece Emma who will be turning 4 years old in a couple of weeks.  I am also linking this card to Card Patterns blog for their sketch challenge #151.  The pattern we are asked to follow is the one below by Tracy Schultz.  All supplies used were from my stash. 



Here's a side view of the card.  This card is 5.5 x 5.5.  The blue patterned paper was cut on the Cricut using Elegant Edges cart, then sewn on the edges using my Janome sewing machine.  The butterfly image was also cut on the Cricut using  the Martha Stewart Elegant Cakes Art cart, then embellished with sticker gems.  I also added some white irock gems.  The ribbon was from the dollar bins at Target I have had for a long time.  The flower button was from Michaels.  The sentiment "Happy Birthday!" is by TPC. 



And here's the inside of the card.  This would be my first attempt at a pop-up card.  I used the carousel image from the Silhouette Studio store.  And of course, this was cut with the Cameo.

The layering on the Cameo is a little trickier for me since I was so used to picking out different layers I want/need on the Cricut.  With the Cameo, if an image has layers, it will ALL show up on your mat and you will need to ungroup first so you can position your layers however you want on the mat to coincide with the cardstock you are going to cut with.  

 This is what I started out first.  This particular image however, only came with only two layers - the card mat that would go behind the image, and the image itself. 

You could leave the cut as a silhouette, like the one above, or if you want color (like I did), I just ungrouped the images and "tossed" aside the ones I didn't need.  Here I cut only the carousel in green cardstock instead of the whole card.

Then I further ungrouped the same image above to cut the horses twice in pink and purple cardstocks.  From here I just used a pair of scissors to snip off the horses. 

The flower swirl stamp is by Inkadinkado.  I embellished the carousel with sticker gems and the horses with twine.

Mojo Monday #224

Another first for me!  Lately I have been so stumped when it comes to making cards and Mojo Monday blog is one of the ones I've recently come across for sketch inspiration.  This is my literal take on the sketch challenge LOL!  Maybe I'll do beter next time ;).   Below is the sketch inspiration, copied from Mojo Monday blog. 



This is the side view of my card.

This card is an A2 sized card.  All supplies used were still from my stash.  The pennant was cut on my Cricut using the MS Elegant Cake Art cart, embossed with the D'Vine Swirls CB folder and embellished with pink half pearls.  The coordinating strip of paper inside of the card is punched with an MS puncher.  The rosette was done by punching a 1 inch x 12 inch strip of patterned cardstock with a MS heart punch and scored using MS score board.  The sentiment was computer generated using the Curlz MT font, then cut with the Cameo. 

On a side note, I know I have been making cards using rosettes and I hope you're not all tired of it ;).  I'm trying to justify NOT buying the Cricut Ribbons and Rosettes cart.  I have instead been using MS punchers and svgs.  Plus being on a cart-buying ban for 4 months (because I bought my Cameo) helps restrain me.

Just Us Girls LO

First and foremost, thanks so much for stopping by today ;).  I am linking this project to the CC Blog Weekly Challenge with the theme "Flower Fusion."  We were asked to incorporate purchased flowers into our projects.  I chose to make a double LO to cut down on the LOs I'm so behind in ;).  The pictures were taken in 2008 when my then 3 year old DD and I were babysitting my newborn niece Emma.  My DD loved "babysitting" her little cousin - made her feel like a big girl!

The title "Just us girls" were cut from the Hello Kitty Font cart, with the top layers embossed with the D'vine Swirls CB folder.  The border on the right side of the second page is from the MS Elegant Cake Art cart.  I embellished the border with some flowers I purchased from Oriental Trading Company 2 years ago.  I glued different colored buttons in the middle of each flower.  The other border (just peeking behind the pictures on the first page) was just a strip of white cardstock punched with a MS doily puncher on both sides then embellished with a strip of ribbon.  The mats for the pictures were cut to size using Fiskar scissors, some decorated with the same ribbon as the white border strip.  

The big girl doll was cut using the Paper Doll Dress Up cart and the baby doll was cut from the Everyday Paper Dolls cart; both dolls were stamped using Peachy Keen face stamps.  The journaling was computer generated.

Gift tag card

Happy Friday!  Today's project is a card I made for one of my nieces who turns 6 this weekend.  Actually it has become a card-turned-into-a-gifttag.   Well I didn't mean for it to be a gift tag but with the 3D flower added to it, it would have been tough to fit it in ANY envelope, even if I had to make one.  Either way I'm happy at how it turned out.  And best of all, I was again able to use supplies from my stash so this is project #3 for me for the Using My Stash pledge over at the CC MB!  I've been really proud of myself - went grocery shopping at a Smart and Final yesterday next to a Michaels and I didn't even go in!  I heard (LOL) the clearance bins outside Michaels calling for me and I held my own!

*base card is made out of 2 of the same present images from Create a Critter cart, welded together

*with the same image as the base, cut one in printed paper (from a very old K&C 6x6 stack), then the top layer embossed with Plum Blossoms CB folder
