Just Us Girls LO

First and foremost, thanks so much for stopping by today ;).  I am linking this project to the CC Blog Weekly Challenge with the theme "Flower Fusion."  We were asked to incorporate purchased flowers into our projects.  I chose to make a double LO to cut down on the LOs I'm so behind in ;).  The pictures were taken in 2008 when my then 3 year old DD and I were babysitting my newborn niece Emma.  My DD loved "babysitting" her little cousin - made her feel like a big girl!

The title "Just us girls" were cut from the Hello Kitty Font cart, with the top layers embossed with the D'vine Swirls CB folder.  The border on the right side of the second page is from the MS Elegant Cake Art cart.  I embellished the border with some flowers I purchased from Oriental Trading Company 2 years ago.  I glued different colored buttons in the middle of each flower.  The other border (just peeking behind the pictures on the first page) was just a strip of white cardstock punched with a MS doily puncher on both sides then embellished with a strip of ribbon.  The mats for the pictures were cut to size using Fiskar scissors, some decorated with the same ribbon as the white border strip.  

The big girl doll was cut using the Paper Doll Dress Up cart and the baby doll was cut from the Everyday Paper Dolls cart; both dolls were stamped using Peachy Keen face stamps.  The journaling was computer generated.

CC Blogiversary Challenge #5 - Cutie Frame

Today's project is my entry for the CC Blogiversary Challenge #5 - "Recipe" Challenge.  Our mission for this challenge was to follow a "recipe" as stated below:

Use your Cricut machines to create a project using the following “recipe.” It must contain 1) A Title; 2) Atleast 2 Cricut Cuts, and 3) At least 3 buttons.

For this challenge I've created a frame for my 6 year old DD's fall class picture.  The frame and its layers came from the Fancy Frames cart.  (I had to cut the bottom layer in purple cardstock  2x and the "stand" 2x to make a sturdy frame.  I tried cutting chipboard with my E and my E2 but they were both screaming bloody murder even with the deep blade, the highest blade setting and several multicuts - someday I will be successful at cutting chipboard but for now cutting multiple layers of the same cut to make them sturdy works for me.)   The butterfly and its layer was cut using the Cake Basics cart.  I embossed the top layer with the D'vine Swirls CB folder and attached the two layers to each other only in the middle with foam mounts.  Then I glued 3 small pink buttons.

The green banner was cut using the CMTH Art Philosophy cart.  The title "Cutie" and its shadow layer was cut using the Hello Kitty Font - the layers were attached together using foam mounts and the the top layer was embossed with the Plum Blossoms CB folder.  I also added  3 green irock gems in each letter.  The flowers were from the Flower Shoppe cart, 2 different flower images cut in varying sizes, then embellished with 2 buttons with jute twine.  The leaves were from the Heritage cart, the top layers embossed with the Script CB folder. 

I finished off the frame with 3 pink half pearls in the top right side of the frame to somehow balance the look. 

I used only what is in my stash for this project, so this makes project #9 for my Using my Stash pledge at the CC MB.

A Home for Hello Kitty Card

A couple of days ago I posted a Hello Kitty shaped card (see pic above?)  so I decided it needs a special "home".  For  the card base I used the Wild Card cart and the letters and silhouette image are cut using the Hello Kitty Font cart.  After glueing the letters and the image, I was contemplating on how to best glue Hello  Kitty's eyes and nose.

 Luckily for me I guess the blade in my expression was not sharp so the little pieces did not completely cut through. I just flipped her face over and put glue ONLY on the pieces I wanted to transfer to my card.

Then I carefully placed the image on the card.  Using my Cricut tool that looks like a dentist's scrapper, I made sure that the pieces I wanted to transfer came off the image onto the card and lifted that image off.

And voila perfect placement of Hello Kitty's eyes and nose!

The backside was looking a little naked so I put two brads and made a strand of beads on a jewelry wire to close the card.  BTW the cardstock I used was double sided so I didn't have to cut a liner to dress up the inside.
