His and hers twin birthday cards

Almost forgot it's the first Sunday of the month and my turn to post over at the Bugbytes :).  Hello bloggers and thank you Pam for having me over to share a crafty project with your readers.  My twin niece and nephew had their 2nd birthday party yesterday and I created two separate cards for them - after all, each is beginning to have his and her own personality ;).  These cards are A2 size cards designed on the Silhouette Studio and all cuts were done using my Cameo.

The base of the cards and all of the inside parts were by Lori Whitlock called birthday candle pop up card (Design ID #40180).  I used the fonts already in my computer to write personalized sentiment before I cut the inside mat.  I made the candle image to be a print only in my choice of color, duplicated that to have 2 birthday candles in each card.  Below are the pieces after printing and then cutting.

 
The banners for the font of the card were by a set of ribbon banners (Design ID #24243) by Jamie Koay. I used the fonts from my library to cut the letters of the twins' names inside the banners. The images were by Polly Craft, colored with Promarkers.  I imported the images onto the Studio to size them inside scalloped square and oval images by Lori Whitlock (Design ID #26510).

Some closeups of the cards after assembly.  I used some scrap ribbons, buttons and flowers to embellish and some foam mounts for some depth here and there.

Ok, whatevs!

First of all, I love my niece! But like some teenagers I know she needs some attitude adjustment once in a while and she knows it   ;)   so I don't feel bad about creating this birthday card for her - she'll shrug off the humor behind it, roll her eyes at me then give me a hug, as she always does anyways.  I know a bit confusing, but then again we're talking about a 15 year old here :).

Hello, fellow bloggers!  Part of this post can be viewed over at the Bugbytes where I hang out the first Sunday of each month.  Thank you, Pam for having me over!  As I mentioned above, this card is a birthday card for my niece. The card was designed using the Silhouette Studio and everything was cut using my Cameo.  The card is roughly 6.25 x 5.25.  The base of the card with the flower cut out is by Jamie Koay, purchased through the Silhouette Store. 

After sizing the card base to my liking, I imported a png image (digital stamp) by Scrapper's Delights (she's already colored in, so a big time saver for me!) onto the Silhouette Studio then sized it to fit in the front of the card base.  Png images don't have cut lines so I used the trace feature of the Silhouette Studio to create a cut line around the image so that my Cameo can do the cutting for me.

I don't like to waste paper so here's a pic of the girl image,

Notice the cut lines will not show here, but the registration marks on

the three corners of the page will guide the Cameo where to cut.

I inserted a vellum panel just behind the front panel of the card.  

The top banner pennant was embossed with Plum Blossoms CB folder.

The plumeria (a png image) is part of my digital scrapbook collection

from Scrapgirls.  Like my little humor jab at her?  Like I've said,

she'll shrug it off  LOL! 

I did some stitching too.

God Bless the USA Door Hang

Hello there!  Today's my turn to post over at the Bug Bytes so this post can also be seen there.  Thanks Pam and her lovely readers for having me today.  I'm sharing a door hang I created in honor of the upcoming Fourth of July holiday. 

I used the Silhouette Studio to plan the pieces to this project, and all pieces were cut using the Cameo.  The scalloped circle with the stars, the Statue of Liberty silhouette, and the "USA" were images purchased through the Silhouette Store.  The rosette came from a rosette SVG set I purchased through Lettering Delights a while back.  I used the Cooper Black and the Creampuff fonts for the words "God Bless the."

Here are some of the pieces after they have been cut.  I preassembled part of the rosette.  I ended up using a total of 12 rosettes pieces (cut in 2  12x12 white cardstocks).

After attaching all 12 rosette cuts together, I laid it out around a 12 inch cardboard cake platter, shiny side down.  I then marked four spots where I'll need to glue the rosette down first.  I used a glue gun for this project for stability. 

This is how the rosette should look like after glueing down on the four marked spots.

Then all I had to do was "squish" in the rosette to form a circle, working one corner at a time.  I made sure to put a ribbon (I attached mine with a heavy duty stapler becuse the cake platter was very thick) before I closed down all the corners since I was going to hang this.

Mine was not a perfect circle as you can tell from the above picture, but the front did cover it up pretty well.

I used red Craftworks Card Candis and faux stiched with a white gel to embellish the scalloped circle.  I also did faux stitching on the letters USA.  Most of the pieces were also foam mounted for added depth.

Creative*Thoughtful*Dedicated Canvas Wall Hanging

Hi there!  Today's post can also be viewed over at the Bug Bytes Blog.  Thanks Pam for allowing me to post in your blog ;) again.   This project is highlighting three of things I love most about my 9 y o DS (there are other things I love about him, of course). 

The project I'm sharing today is a canvas wall hanging, inspired by a file I purchased through the Silhouette Store, and is by Lori Whitlock.   For instructions on how to make the canvas wall hanging, please click on the link as there really wasn't much I could have done to improve on Lori's instructions (thanks Lori!)   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIRgnP3cZFA  or go to her blog.  In her video tutorial she made a two-panel wall canvas but she did talk about how to make a three-panel one, which you see I have done here.  I also added some beads to my ribbons in between the panels and on the top.   

For this project, you would need to assemble the canvas pieces and attach the ribbons,  but do NOT attach the front panels yet until you have decorated them.

This project was planned completely using the Silhouette Studio and all die cuts were cut using my Cameo.  I love that I can even color in my pieces to help me plan the colors for my project!  I was even able to import pictures on the Silhouette Studio and size it to fit the frame I was going to use.  Below is a screen shot of I envisioned the pieces to look like with all the layers colored and stacked together. 

And here are the pieces all cut out and some pieces semi assembled.  I used my printer to print the matt for each panel, then sewed them onto the black front panel for added texture.

For the title on each panel, I used the Chopin Script, Fontleroy Brown NF, and the Henry Morgan Hand fonts, already in my computer.  I used the offset feature on the Silhouette Studio to create the shadows for the title. 

Below are closeups of the panels after they have been attached to the front of each canvas.  I used my gel pens for some details and for faux stitching on the titles.  Other embellishments added were metal findings for my son's name, green ribbon, buttons, Card Candis, hemp cord and sticker gems.

there were times he didn't want to go to his tae kwon do classes,

but he never did once told us he wanted to quit.  He finally

got his first degree black belt last year at the age of 8 and wants

to get his second degree black belt. 

We are so very proud of him!

Outta This World!

Hello everyone!  This is Melody (aka Ry&MysMom on the Cricut MB and the Silhouette Plus Forum) from A Splash Here and There blog.  I am so excited because I can finally share with you all my good news - today is my first time posting at The Bug Bytes as a new DT member!  Thank you Pam for allowing me to share my projects with your readers.

Today's project is a birthday card I created for a friend's son who turned 10 years old yesterday.  His party was held at a laser tagging place so I thought that a space-themed card was fitting.  This card was 8.270 inches tall x 4.46 inches wide.  This whole project was designed using purchased images (pocket envelope by Sophie Gallo, astronaut by Sarah Bailey, and acme rocket by Looney Tunes)  from the Silhouette Studio (will be referring to it as SS from here on), and cut with my Cameo.  There are most likely similar cuts you can find to recreate this project using Cricut carts. 

I started out by fitting my envelope as big as I can on the 12 x 12 cutting mat. Then I sized the pieces of the acme rocket and the astronaut according to how big I can fit the card inside the envelope.  I duplicated the base of the rocket 2x to create the lining for the inside of the card.  On one of the linings, I wrote the sentiment "Have an outta this world day!" in Magneto font.  I flood-filled the font in blue ink, then used the print and cut feature of the SS for this lining.

I used the offset feature on the SS to create 2 shadows of the base of the rocket.  Then I welded these two shadows to create the base of the card, as seen below.

Once I had all the pieces of the card all planned out and cut, I was ready to assemble the pieces.

A little inking here and there, some embossing with the Swiss Dots CB folder, a few foam mounts for pop and depth, some irock gems and faux stitching with a while gel pen and it's done!  Below is a peek at the inside of the card:
