Two down....

...and who knows how many more to go!  While some of my blogging friends already have a stash of Christmas cards done and ready to go, I'm just barely getting started.  I needed a push since I always procrastinate and end up buying (gasp!) Christmas cards to hand out (for the most part).  The cards you see above are inspired by two challenges I'm linking them to:  (1) Going Buggy [make a Christmas card with non-traditional colors ie., no reds or greens] and (2) Clean and Simple Stamping [sketch challenge].

The cards are size A2.  If your don't count the front and the black matt, there is almost NO die-cut on these cards.  The trio of Christmas ornaments and the first line of the sentiment were printed on my printer using the sketch feature of the Silhouette Studio.  The Christmas ornaments were originally die-cut (or SVGs) purchased through the Silhouette Store, and is by Sophie Gallo.  The fonts I used were Janda Curlygirl Chunky and Arial.  To truly appreciate how to turn anything into a sketch on the Silhouette Studio, please go here to my blogging friend Sabrina's blog - I really couldn't have improved on her instructions.

So I popped over at the Cricut Circle MB this week, which I hadn't done in a while since I've been busy with digital scrapbooking forums - and I'm glad I did!  Sweetpea1030 has posted that Polly Craft is closing down this week!  I mean I hadn't heard of this site before but she has a lot of very cute digis!  I grabbed me the bundle and some (hehe!) for a good price.

The image on this card is one of the ones from the bundle I bought and is called Taking a Break from the Swings and Slides line.  This card is 5 x 5 and I kept it pretty monochromatic (I'm really bad at this) and I'm entering it in Enfy's Going Buggy blog challenge this month.  I'm also linking this at the Polly Craft blog as sort of a farewell linky party; wish I had known about this site before but I'm so glad I got some of Paula's very cute images before she closes down her digi store for good :(

After coloring the image with my Prismacolor pencils, I cut the image out with a Nestability die and then chalked around it with a light brown chalk.  The sentiment "Cheers" and its shadow were cut with the Cameo; the font I used was Ravie, which is already in my computer. 

I kept the inside plain, but did use a strip of left-over patterned cardstock to dress up the top a bit.  This card will be for my son's 3rd Grade teacher and I'm going to let him address the inside sentiment himself.

Another Teacher Appreciation Gift

Hello again, my blogging friends!  Here's another teacher appreciation gift I whipped up for my kids' wonderful teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week.  The base of the boxes was an image from the Silhouette Store and is by Cali Arroyo, cut with the Cameo.  I am linking this project to the following challenges:  (1) Going Buggy [anything with wings], and (2) Scrapper's Delights [anything with flowers]. 

The boxes were roughly 2x2x2 and I was able to fit two in a 12x12 cutting mat.  I used a double-sided K & Company cardstock. 

After assembling the boxes, I created the layer for the 4 panels of each box in the Silhouette Studio by using the draw feature.  On one of the panels I wrote the sentiment "For my wonderful teacher" in Abbeyline font, flood-filled the font in pink ink and used the print and cut feature of the Cameo to cut. 

On the other three panels, I imported  .png files from images I purchased from Scrapper's Delights' kits (Morning Dew, One Fine Day and Bee Happy; I actually purchased these kits for my digital scrapbook pages but was so tickled to find out I can import the images onto the Cameo!  Sweet, right?!).

And a top view of the box.  I was able to fit 6 of the Ghirardelli squares in each box.
