Marissa's 18th Birthday Card

So I was commissioned to make an 18th birthday card for my SIL's niece who just turned 18 over the weekend and this is what I came up with.  I know of this young lady and wanted to make a special card befitting her sweet personality.  This is a roughly 4.25 x 9 inches card.  The base of the card was cut with the Cricut using the Art Philosophy cart.  The image is another digi stamp from Scapper's Delights which I colored with Prismacolor colored pencils, then cut with a Nestability scalloped oval die.  The doily mat under this image was an image from the Silhouette Studio Store, and was cut with the Cameo. The envelope is from the Wild Card cart.

I added some glittered glue to her dress.  I embellished with some Prima flowers, half pearls and swirly pearl stickers by Recollections, a home-dyed crinkled ribbon and a home-made stick pin.

that there's images of pink roses inside. 

The inside of the card was left blank so that my SIL can write her own birthday wishes for this young lady.  I did use a swirly flower stamp in one corner using an Inkadinkado stamp.  All patterned cardstocks used were by K & Company.

Mojo Monday #234 - Happy Birthday Raj!

Tomorrow is my wonderful hubby's birthday.  Just a quick post on the birthday card I created for my DS and my DD to sign for their dad.  This is a roughly 5 x 5 card, following a sketch from Mojo Monday blog sketch #234, as shown below.
      


The base of the card is a square card from the Art Philosophy cart,  The silhouette cut of the family and the doily mat it's on, are images from the Silhouette Store, cut with the Cameo. The sentiment tickets were also cut with the Cameo using the print and cut feature, both tickets from the Silhouette Store.  I did some stitching to the three strips of cardstocks.  The middle brown cardstock was embossed with the Script CB folder.

 I added a cream-colored button and twine to the ticket sentiments.

I kind of screwed up on a couple of corners while stitching with the sewing machine, so to hide those mishaps, I punched a couple of "photo corners," punched with an MS puncher.

Home Tweet Home

Well I'm a day late, but Happy Spring y'all!  I made a home decor to welcome spring, but mother nature must not have gotten the memo yet because where I live, it's still stinkin' cold! 

For this project, I let my Cricut and my Cameo have a play date LOL!  The birdcage is cut with the Cameo and is all paper; it is an image from the Silhouette Studio store for 99 cents (this particular one is an old one, but I did see a couple of new birdcage designs I can't wait to download and play with).  It is over 11 inches tall.  Another Cameo cut was the hanging sign "Home Tweet Home", cut using the print and cut feature, with the Andalus and Abbeyline fonts.    The Cricut cuts were the tons of flowers from the Art Philosophy cart, and the vines from the Home Decor and More cart.  I added some red tulle and thin cream ribbons I had lying around.  The bird's nest and the birds inside were bought from Michaels. 

After I cut and rolled the flowers, I assembled them along the perimeter of this flower pot dish (turned upside down), and then started glueing them in place with a glue gun.

Piece of Cake

So today is my 42nd birthday so I thought it fitting to show you a no fat and no calorie cake I made - well if you don't count the chocolates I'm stuffing the insides with.  This is hardly an original design since a lot of crafters have made these in different variations, but I wanted to show you all because it's my first time making one.  I made this for the teachers at my kids' school for Valentine's Day. 

I needed to make the cake slices as fast as I could so I used a file purchased for 99 cents at the Silhouette store, and cut with my Cameo. You can use similar cake slice images from other Cricut cartridges you may have. In fact I started cutting a slice of cake image from the Tie the Knot cart but decided against using it because I hate scoring!  The Silhouette cake slice was easier for me to work with because the perforation on the cuts made it easy for me to just fold where I needed to fold, no need for a bone folder!     

The flowers were from the Art Philosophy cart, each cut at 2 1/2  x 2.60  inches.  Another Cricut cut is the swirl on the outside of the slices, from the Wall Decor and More cart, cut at 0.47 x  2.50 inches.  I attached a pink plastic heart on the the back of the top layer , another Target dollar bin find ;).   I also added a string of thin cream ribbon for a faux two-layer look.

The slices shifted in this picture so the center looks off, but really it

makes for a perfect 12 slices cake. 

I have rolled my flowers ahead of time, so if you don't count that (which really didn't take much time either), it took me about an hour and a half to cut, fold and glue all the pieces.  My DD loves this look and wants one in PURPLE as her goody boxes for her 7th birthday next month - so stay tuned ;).  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Monday!   

Birthday Card

Wow this has been a week of firsts for me.  First it was the Card Patterns blog, then Mojo Monday and for today, I whipped up a super quick birthday card and linking it to fellow Circlet Sheila's blog over at She's a Sassy Lady ;) with a birthday theme. 

This card is an A2 sized card and all supplies are from my stash.  I'm trying to get rid of some little bits and pieces of cardstock and replenishing my stock of birthday cards.  The light pink mat was embossed with the D'Vine Swirls CB folder and inked.  The flowers were from the Art Philosophy cart.  The rosette was super easy to do with a MS heart puncher and a MS score board.  The sentiment was cut using the Cameo print and cut feature (font was Harrington). 

That's it for me!  It's supposed to rain all weekend long where I live which is a bummer cause I'd still have to be out and about to take the kids to their activities :( .  Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving comments.

Simple Giftcard Tag Holder

Hello again!  I'm back to share a giftcard tag holder I created.  I don't know about you guys but the older I get the less tolerant I am of big shopping crowds - hence I didn't even try going out to the stores on Black Friday.  Maybe I may go Christmas shopping next week but for now I've decided I am handing out more giftcards this year.  I think my teenage niece and nephews appreciate it more anyway as they can pick out whatever they want. 

The base of the GC holder is from the CM Art Philosophy Cart.  I think it was meant to be a card tag but since I wanted to use it to hold a GC I had to weld two rectangles from the George and Basic Shapes cart to serve as flaps to make the pocket to hold a GC.  I used my Gypsy to accomplish this task.

Below is a pic of the cut out base with the flaps scored and folded in.

Before I glued the flaps to form the pocket, I attached a printed cardstock cut from George and Basic Shapes cart to the front.  Then I stitched the edges of the cardstock using my new toy, the Janome Sew Mini sewing machine I mentioned yesterday.  I'm still getting used to this machine especially the corners, but I'm happy to report that I'm loving it!

After I glued the flaps I then added a doily from the CM Art Philosophy cart, cut in gold shimmery cardstock and embossed with the Textile CB folder.  The tag is from the Cake Basics cart, stamped in white with sentiment and snowman from Studio G.  I added a homemade stick pin to one side of the tag.  I also used homemade crinkle ribbon, twine from The Twinery and a gold mini bell.
