RIP Riley LO

I am entering this 2-page 12x12 LO on the Cricut Circle Blog Weekly Challenge #21 and the Bitten By The Bug2 Challenge.

I have designed this 2-page LO as sort of a "goodby for now" for our dear dog who passed away end of last summer due to old age.  This has been the hardest LO for me to do so far since it has been really lonely in the house without our precious Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.  My 5 year old DD still cries all of a sudden sometimes when she remembers him.  We miss him dearly but know he's in a better place.

Bitten By the Bug 2 Challenge - Fence

Hello there!  Special thanks to Donna Mundinger for steering me over to the BBTB2 site - love it!  This is my first entry to this site and it's another gate card.  The challenge was to use the fence/gate from the Bloom cart but if you don't have it you can use another fence/gate from another cart.  I don't have this Lite cart, so I am using this fence (x2) cut from Picturesque instead. 

Here's a pic of the inside of the card.

The bird bath with bird was cut from French Manor cart.  The flower border (turned on its side) was cut using Paper Lace.  "Happy Birthday" was also cut from Paper Lace and "for you" was cut using Sweethearts cart.  Other supplies used:  D'vine Swirls and Swiss Dots CB folders, Prima flowers, irock gems and Martha Stewart border puncher, ribbon from Michaels, base card from Martha Stewart, printed paper from various K & Company stacks and Stickles.

I'm playing along - the Cuttlebug Spot!

Don't really mean to be so dramatic but I'm venturing out a bit LOL - to the Cuttlebug Spot! This site has weekly challenges and this week's challenge is to create a gatefold card.  I've never done one before as I normally make size A2 cards.  A few weeks ago I tried the tri-shutter card.  Last week the Cuttlebug Spot was doing step cards and I so wanted to play along but didn't have the time :(  This is the first time I'm entering a challenge outside of the Cricut Circle Blog.  And in the process I'm also discovering, and now following (yey!), other wonderful crafty bloggers!

Now about the card.....I made this card for my youngest niece who is turning 3 on Saturday, and who loves Snow White!  The card is 6 x 6.  The Snow White cut is from the Happily Ever After cart - she wasn't too bad to assemble ;). 

The inside sentiment is all computer generated and cut to size then I inked all around.  The corner pieces were from the Picturesque cart. 

The two small strips on the inside  of the card were embossed with one of the Organic Flourish border CB folders.  I punched one side of the strips with a Martha Stewart border punch and then added purple irock gems.  I also inked all around the strips.

I love this Martha Stewart border punch that I also went ahead and punched the top and the bottom of the inside of the card.

It can be a friend, your mom, a lover, your child, a neighbor . . . anyone! Your project must include a heart and embossing (we want to see you incorporate those Cuttlebug embossing folders). Project must also contain atleast 2 Cricut cuts to qualify.

Valentine's Day Goodies

A day late in posting V Day treats!  These were the treats my kids took to school yesterday to celebrate V Day.  I made 11 for my DD's Kinder class and 16 for my DS's class - yep, been blessed that their class size have been kept small.   Above pic is the front of the treats and below is the back side.

I'd like to say that the pic below was the "inspiration" for the whole project LOL!  It was looking so plain with just the sandwich bag - I couldn't leave it alone knowing I could pretty it up a bit with the use of my trusted E ;).

The sandwich bag was about 7 inches wide so I started out by trimming a 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock down to 7 x 11.  Then I used my Gypsy to gauge just where I'd want the heart "window" to be.  Below pic is what you'd end up with, a stack of 7 x 11 cardstock with the heart "window".   The heart cut was from the Sweethearts cart, which I will use for the back of the goody treats.  

Then all I did was fold each cardstock in half.  At this point, I punched the sides with with a Martha Stewart heart border punch for the ones for my DD's class.  I left my DS's ones plain cuz honestly he's tired of the "frills". 

I used two shadow images from the MS Elegant Cake Art cart for the topper, flipped one and welded it to the other so you get this below:

I liked how these images below turned out - it's like getting two cuts in one!  So I used the "positive" cut for the front of the baggies and the "negative" cut for the back of the baggies.



I then placed the baggies inside the folds of the 7 x 11 cardstock, topped them off with the topper and stapled them all together.  Then I placed the cupid cut from the Sweethearts cart in the front next to the heart "window".  Remember those hearts I cut out to make those "windows"?  Well I placed those on top of the heart doilies cut  from the same cart (Sweethearts) and stuck them in the back with the "XOXO" cut from Stamping cart.

Cherish Garland Banner

I'm having so much fun with my Expression this week!  Here is my entry for the Cricut Circle Blog Monthly Challenge.  We were asked to make a banner of any kind we like and this is what I came up with.  I have a wall in my family room that has been blank for 5 years (yikes!) except maybe for the paint job :).  Anyway, I am slowly putting up pictures on the walls so that the kids can see more current photos of themselves since I am almost 3 years behind in scrapbooking and a pretty little garland banner is just perfect for this.  BTW the picture frames here were purchased from Target last summer - they accommodate 3 pictures each with horizontal orientation.  I did a somewhat similar hanging frame to accommodate my vertical pictures which you can see here.

For this project I used a 6 ft. garland I purchased from Michaels to hold the banner pieces.  I chose a garland so that I can use it over and over and just change the banner pieces if I so chose later.  I foam mounted the butterfly border images, the circle doilies and the letters.  Each scalloped triangle base is 8.5 inches tall.

I also added doodling on the edges of the scalloped triangle pieces, then puched each two corners so that I can thread ribbons to attach each piece to the garland.  I wanted to use pretty eyelets but didn't have ones that are big enough, so I just used hole punch reinforcers (is that even what you call them LOL?) on the backs so that the paper does not tear when I put the ribbons through.

Freeze Dance LO

Hello again Cricuteers - Circlets and non-circlets - we're all family of wonderful crafters!  I am playing catch up with my LOs so I was excited to finally do another 2-page LO to enter yet another Cricut Circle Blog Challenge - haven't won yet but I'm loving the weekly challenges as they force me to use my cricut products. I TRY to enter each week just to stay crafty. This week the theme is "Whatevah!" and the details for challenge are as follows:

Weekly Challenge #19: Whatevah! Challenge
“Whatevah!” is a phrase a lot of parents of teens hear around their house on daily basis. We thought we’d take that phrase to heart for this next challenge. What we’d like you to do is use WHATEVAH shape you would like, but be sure to repeat it three times on your project. Project must also include spray ink and must be newly created for this challenge.

I chose to repeat one of the musical notes but varied its size.  You can see one of them on the left side of the LO and the other 2 on the right side of the LO.  I was also able to finally use my homemade glitter mist.

* irock gems on girl cut's dress and ponytail, and the boy cut's suspenders
* Cricut cuts used:  5 musical notes (1 repeated 3x) from Hannah Montana cart; "Freeze Dance" from Hannah Montana cart; girl dancing from Nifty Fifties cart; boy dancing from Nifty Fifty cart
* D'vine Swirls CB folder to add dimension in girl cut's skirt and top
